Gluten Sensitivity-The Reason Behind That Stubborn Belly Fat?
January 26th, 2012It can be odd the way you discover one idea when you were totally concentrating on something else entirely.
I was having a few little health difficulties and so I decided to consider cutting gluten from my diet regime to find out if it might help me to feel better. Well, not only did I feel better but my energy level increased and my trousers got loose - totally unanticipated.
To start with, what is gluten?
Without supplying you with a lengthy, uninteresting description of what gluten is, gluten is simply just,
“…a mixture of plant proteins found in cereal grains, such as wheat, rye, barley..it is also used as an adhesive in making seasonings, especially monosodium glutamate (MSG).”
-The American Heritage Science Dictionary
Strangely enough, gluten is found in several foods like salad dressings and even soy sauce! It’s no surprise many individuals are forming a sensitivity to the stuff, it is in almost everything! (I do need to point out that gluten sensitivity isn’t to be confused with gluten intolerance - a completely different problem entirely. These persons become very ill in the event they ingest even the slightest portion of gluten. This would not be all of us
Alright, so back to the things i discovered…
I was in fact still ingesting carbs, so this wasn’t merely a “cut out all breads and pastas” low-carb type of thing. I continued to consume those things, although in gluten-free form.
I’d personally mention that I lost mainly inches/body fat, not weight, because I merely lost about Two lbs….however my clothes ended up fitting much better. I had not been trying to lose weight at the time, nevertheless I figured, “Hey, this could possibly be great for anybody attempting to lose weight or even just stubborn stomach fat.”
And for that reason, I personally passed this concept on to a friend of mine, who coincidentally had just been recently whining about her persistent abdominal fat. She tried the idea and within a week, noticed a change in the way her clothing was fitting, and a definite reduction in tummy size. I believe in the end, she dropped almost two clothing sizes, without exercise. Not too bad I’d say!
Thus, as you can imagine, I discovered I was on to something.
The Plan
It is actually really very very simple to do, do not stress about it. Just dramatically decrease or remove entirely all gluten from your diet. Replace those things with gluten free choices. There you have it. No outrageous constraints, or being hungry, or cravings to deal with. Try it, you may well end up being pleasantly impressed. The truly cool factor is that workouts would only make the benefits even better.
